About this deal

For more about Scream 2 4K and the Scream 2 4K Blu-ray release, see Scream 2 4K Blu-ray Review published by Martin Liebman on October 1, 2022 where this Blu-ray release scored 4. Contrast is also occasionally an issue, strangely in mostly moderately lit scenes (as in the bathroom scene with Campbell at school), where things are just slightly mushy.

But best of all, that hideous artificial sharpening is completely banished – check out barely 15s into the film as the camera pans down on the cinema marquee: the previous 1080p image shows thick white edging around the words’ Sneak Preview Tonight Only’, giving the lit background to them a very noisy look. And overall, the image has a very natural look to it – it's nicely sharp but not unnecessarily so, the same going for its grain management and colour reproduction, which overall gives this disc a very pleasing image. Breaking down plot devices and announcing them at the forefront, the film becomes a brilliant exercise in the postmodern, a meta-narrative that knows all too well it is fashioned from other sources.Assembled from a postmodern passion for horror, the box-office hit is also a genre exercise, filled with humor, thrills, and suspense. These kinds of obvious changes between releases often have both plusses and minuses, but in this case, the new 4K release of Scream is superior in every single way.

These weren’t just rules, these were recognisable facts in all but the hardiest of cases (Jim Cameron notwithstanding). When a new killer makes their presence known, suddenly the town is plunged back into its familiar yet unbelievable despair. But the heart of the franchise belongs to Courtney Cox and David Arquette, wonderfully reprising their roles and their sizzling chemistry, easy humour and their brilliantly deployed and hugely effective chalk and cheese rom-com tropes. For the week that ended on April 9th, Paramount Home Media Distribution's Scream (2022) topped the Blu-ray-only chart, while Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Sing 2 slipped to second place in its second week, despite staying on top of the overall packaged .
