As a precautionary measure , Radian B Muscle Rub should only be used during pregnancy or lactation when there is no safer alternative. Radian B is used to reduce fever and treat pain or inflammation caused by many conditions such as headache, toothache, back pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps, or minor injury. Its pharmacological effects are believed to be due to inhibition cylooxygenase-2 (COX-2) which decreases the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in mediating inflammation, pain, fever and swelling. The quantity and strength of ibuprofen supplied in the container or packet determines whether it is only available on prescription, can be bought only from pharmacies, or can be bought from other retail outlets such as supermarkets and garages. Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age should sprinkle a few drops of lotion into the hand or onto some cotton wool and then smooth or massage this gently into the painful area. However, ibuprofen is considered an NSAID and thus it is a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase, which is an enzyme involved in prostaglandin (mediators of pain and fever) and thromboxane (stimulators of blood clotting) synthesis via the arachidonic acid pathway.
