Whatever you are looking for you can be sure you are getting a bargain on leading designs in our Montane sale selection.On the plus side that down has been given a durably water-repellent Bluesign-approved Teflon treatment, which helps it maintain loft for longer in damp conditions and makes the Arete a good choice for mixed UK weather or snowy Alpine trips. Our reviewer noted that he has managed to get the jacket quite damp to the touch at times (over a wet shell on cold, damp drizzly and even snowy days, or for warmth when stopping after a steep, sweaty walk uphill) and the insulation does not seem bothered even if the inner or outer material feels wet.

As a result the jacket was put through a whole lot more abrasion than it might have been otherwise, but hey - these jackets are all for using aren't they? Although these pockets are small this does demonstrate how well this jacket packs down, as one of the pockets doubles as an integrated stuff sack.With a decent DWR, this material is water repellent, which will keep you dry in drizzle or a short shower, but after about half an hour of rain we've found it will begin to wet through.
