About this deal

In my opinion, the extra carpet cleaning tool makes this Henry the one to choose if you have lots of carpets. It also has a charcoal-activated filter to reduce odours that may otherwise hang around when air is expelled as part of the regular vacuuming process.

If you decide Charles is the wet and dry vacuum for you, you’ll be getting a great all-in-one vacuum cleaner with plenty of bag capacity.

These vacuums were originally British made exclusively, but now they have manufacturing plants all over the world. But if you’ve got mostly hard floors with the occasional rug, you’re unlikely to keep swapping them and they’ll probably end up forgotten in the back of a cupboard.

Henry Xtra Bagged Cylinder Vacuum, 9 Litre, 620 Watt, Red

One minute you might be using him to vacuum up the dust and dirt from a carpet, the next you might be dealing with a blocked sink – it’s all the same to him. It can shampoo your carpets, valet the car and unblock the sink, and it’s the first of these – shampooing and valet – that stands it apart from Charles. Without doubt the stand-out Xtra is the unique Airobrush, which is great with pet hair and also helps to provide a pristine clean on soft surfaces like carpets. The factors we like to test the vacuum cleaners on include important things such as suction, length of cable, battery life, ease of manoeuvrability, ease of storage, and maintenance needs. The Henry 160-11 model is a different story, it has the same 620 watt power as the Henry Xtra, but a much smaller capacity at 6 litres compared to the Xtra’s 9. The catch is that it’s noisier, my sound meter hit 76dB when vacuuming carpet with this attachment, whereas it’s only around 70dB when using the combi floor tool.
