About this deal
The Cenobites—especially Pinhead, a regal demon with pins sticking out of a white, bald dome that’s animated by piercing, hauntingly intelligent eyes—would become pop-cultural icons, and Barker uses them shrewdly and sparingly, contrasting them with the somewhat repetitive conflict between Larry, Frank, and Julia. Lastly, there are no large cuts and damage marks, but some specks, small black marks, and blemishes remain. Currently, the film is available on Blu-ray only as part of Arrow Video's Hellraiser: The Scarlet Box, but an individual release will be available for purchase next year.

However the toymaker is killed before he can complete work on a second box to neutralise the horrific powers of his first and Angelique is now free to indulge her desires. The big question with this release, however, is how it compares to Anchor Bay's fine and, unfortunately, out-of-print release. Hard to believe that they could outdo the gorgeous job of the Scarlet box, but this thing is massive, stacked, with an amazing box and the transfers look visually stunning.

However upon watching all four and on comparing back to the previous releases in The Scarlet Box, its apparent that these new restorations improve over their previous ones significantly in every way. Interviews with actors Sean Chapman and Bradley offer more insight into the film’s making, while another talk with ex-Coil member Stephen Thrower discusses the Hellraiser score that might have been.

Bloodline’s workprint isn’t the mythical first cut of Kevin Yagher unfortunately and doesn’t really do that much different from the theatrical cut (running the same duration almost) but it’s a really nice get for the set. Looking at the first three films as a whole, this immediate improvement is clearly visible in its grain reproduction. The box is sturdy and beautiful and each individual case has unique, original artwork - specially designed for this release!Supposedly a remake of Hellraiser is still in the works and I keep reading rumblings on a Nightbreed T.
