For a start, it has by far the best tutorial ever created for a cricket game, which does a great job of teaching the deliciously arcane laws of cricket in the most succinct manner possible, while clearly setting out the mechanics of its gameplay. When bowling, setting the length and line makes use of a colour-coding system ranging from blue for yorker-length to red for bouncers; that system also gives you an indication of the length of the ball you will face when batting, helping you to set your shot and time it as the ball travels towards you. A stunning 138 not out from Dawid Malan set up a 148 run win for England (after another failure from us as Joe Root in the second innings) in what we hope can be replicated at The Gabba!

Just like any real game of cricket, the setup of the pitch in Cricket 22 is absolutely crucial to your match strategy– more so than the game suggests. I think at the very least if these are going to form part of the site's output and be taken seriously there shouldn't be a score attributed to the review. So far we have been unable to find a match online, but it is still early days and we will review that part of the game as soon as we are able to.Classic games like Brian Lara International Cricket are beloved for their retro feel, but Cricket 22 will be loved by cricket fans for actually being a good cricket game!

Cricket 22 might be the best cricket sim out there right now but, unfortunately, due to the messy way in which global cricket image and player likenesses rights work, it does lack licenses for a significant number of real players, teams, leagues, kits, and stadiums.
